Mindfulness Labyrinth Path at Dún na Sí Amenity Park

Dún na Sí's general manager Karen Nugent highlighted that “mindfulness is more important than ever”, and that “here at Dún na Sí we're always trying to connect people.”

Local artist Patsy Preston will be leading the project. She has worked closely with Dún na Sí over the years and has designed many of its iconic features such as 'Lugh's Spear' and the 'Bird Hide'. Of Patsy's work, Ms Nugent said that: “Patsy has had a massive influence on the park.

Patsy will be working in conjunction with four local groups to design the labyrinth. These are Moate Men's Shed, St Hilda's Athlone, Moate Community School, and Horseleap Direct Provision. Dún na Sí has been working closely with these groups for many years to create vibrant and unique artistic pieces for the park.

Each group will participate in at least two workshops, and over the course of several weeks will design and hand-paint the stepping stones. There will be 300 stones in total, with 100 of them designed by the local groups. Workshops begin on June 8, and the entire process will hopefully be completed by October.

As work on the labyrinth will be completed in a fenced off area, Amenity Park is able to remain open all the way through the construction of the path.
