Enhancing Kilkenny City at Night with Digital Magic

Kilkenny County Council is currently researching groundbreaking project aimed at transforming the nighttime experience in Kilkenny City. Using innovative digital technology and lighting, this initiative will bring the city's rich history to life in a whole new way.

Imagine strolling through Kilkenny at night and encountering characters from the Medieval Mile who come alive to guide and entertain you. The Bishop stands tall on Dean Street, the Mason appears along the old city walls, the Merchant leads you to Rothe House, the Witch skips along Kieran Street, and the Monk roams around the Abbey Quarter. These characters, triggered by your presence, will create a magically interactive experience using projectors and sensors.

During the day, an app featuring AI-driven medieval characters will guide visitors through the city's rich heritage, making learning about Kilkenny's history both fun and engaging.

This project is part of a broader effort to enhance the visitor experience and celebrate Kilkenny's cultural heritage. By creatively engaging the community and utilising cutting-edge technology, we aim to make Kilkenny an even more vibrant and dynamic destination.

These characters, triggered by people passing or stopping, will create a magically interactive experience using projectors and sensors, stretching across the city core.
