The Project ‘Mullingar Town Band-Music in the Community’ is a quality, innovative and creative project.
The idea ‘Music in the Community’ came from the realisation that players want to perform and so why not stay local and play local and create opportunities for performance in a local housing estate or at a nursing home or a playing field regularly throughout June and July 2021.
What is hoped to achieve is to create opportunities for young musicians to play and perform live, the music they have been rehearsing and to bring this music to the people of the Mullingar Community young and old. By doing this the community will hear music, see the instruments and appreciate the ‘live’ performance on their doorstep. The players will achieve a sense of satisfaction in having reached out to people through the medium of music, especially during such difficult times as now.
The Project will involve Professional Tutors teaching the young players via Zoom. The wider community of Mullingar will be the target audience. The Committee of Mullingar Town Band will endeavour to put all the necessary requirements in place to make this a successful project. The parents will assist in organising transport and any other basic necessities.
The Band Director will oversee the Project. She will be responsible for implementing all preparatory music training; liaising with Professional Tutors and setting up workshops via Zoom; purchasing music; delegating tasks to the Committee and Parents.
