The ‘Mummers of Moville-Unmasking A Tradition’ Mask Making project will allow the local ‘Mummers of Moville’ group to work with a local arts facilitator to create a series of unique handmade wicker masks that represent animal characters based on Irish myth and that will be used for the Mummers future performances of a lost tradition in Inishowen.
The‘ Mummers of Moville – Unmasking A Tradition’ is a creative and innovative project that aims to bring back a lost local tradition and to undertake performances of the Mummering Group during the Christmas period to raise funds for local charities in the Moville/Greencastle area.
The project will be delivered by an arts facilitator who will work with the group who will include some service users who are currently taking part in the regular Tuesday morning ‘Wellness Café’ and have expressed an interest in doing this project.
This project outcomes assists to identify and address social exclusion and equality issues and helps to develop the capacity of local community groups and supports the creation of more sustainable communities as well as developing partnerships and applying community development approaches to achieve participation of disadvantaged and marginalised communities in the wider local development context in East Inishowen.
