The Music Generation Laois Music-Rich Schools project targets DEIS Schools in Laois to ensure every child in these schools has access to performance music education, without barriers of cost, including instruments and high-quality tuition, and inspirational programming of additional music events such as workshops and performances.
It works with schools across Laois and utilises music as a tool for social inclusion (by providing equality in access).
MG Laois has a fees based structure, schools pay a subsidized rate to be part of its programmes. As a result of the funding structure, barriers exist that prevent some children and young people from accessing music in the county. This programme combats the barriers and provide opportunities to all young people in the county.
