Music Therapy project
The Music Therapy project will train staff at St Josephs Intellectual Disability Services, Portrane, to be able to undertake music therapy sessions with residents and service users attending the resource centre on St. Ita's campus while living in the community in Fingal. This is a collaborative project between an external music therapist, St, Josephs Intellectual Disability Services (IDS) staff and St Josephs IDS Residents / Service users. Initially a workshop will be held with staff to train them on how to conduct music therapy sessions with residents and service users attending the resource centre on St. Ita's campus. Subsequently, music therapy sessions will be offered to residents and service users. These will be delivered by staff with the support of the music therapist until the staff are confident to conduct the sessions on their own. A lotto grant was used in 2020 to install outdoor musical instruments on the St. Ita's campus, Portrane, which have proved you be very popular with the residents.
