This Short Film and Screenplay Competition will take place in September – November 2024 and will welcome submissions from Secondary Schools across Longford. 

The competition will have two categories. Short Film Screenplay (12 page max) and Short Film (1 - 3 minutes). The competition will be promoted and rolled out in two phases. 

Phase One will involve launching the competition by giving presentations/tutorials in each school. These presentations will describe how we wrote, directed and produced our award winning feature film ‘Lakelands’ (Best Irish Film at Galway Film Fleadh and Kerry Film Festival) and short film 'Drifting' stars Paul Mescal (Normal People) The objective of the presentations and training tutorials which will encourage students to open their minds up to the possibility of pursuing a career in the Irish Film Industry. The courses will cover film production, screenplay writing and direction, as well as outlining the Irish film landscape and post secondary options. The second objective will be to utilize their skills in the creation of new short films and screenplays. The winning short scripts and films will receive prizes of €250 each.
