New Ways of Looking invites secondary school students to visit and discover works from the Waterford Art Collection in its new venue, The Waterford Gallery of Art, located on O’Connell Street. For many students this will be their first time experiencing the Waterford Collection.
The Waterford Art Collection show cases forty-seven paintings ranging from, landscapes, still life, portraiture, figurative works and abstract. Artists featured in this exhibition are; Mary Swanzy, Louis Le Brocquy, Martin Hale, & John Butler Yeats and many more.
Placing the Waterford Art Collection as the central focus point of this year’s project allows Garter Lane Arts Centre to develop a new and ambitious collaboration with another organisation working in similar disciplines in the heart of the emerging Cultural Quarter. This Pilot piece will provide us with much needed learning potential as we traverse the new territory of sustainable relationship building in both geographical and practise-based contexts while simultaneously forging a new cultural experience for young people in our City.
