The Athlone No.1 Gun Battery Heritage Group is a proud recipient of Creative Ireland 2021 funding for the design and creation of a heritage video designed to tell the story of the heritage of the sole surviving Napoleonic gun battery in Athlone.

The video, No.1 Gun Battery and its place in Athlone's military heritage is at design stage and will be filmed in late June 2021. The video will consist of a recorded walking tour of Athlone with a group of heritage experts each explaining the significance of the built heritage of Athlone in terms of the strategic defense of Athlone from Napoleonic times back to the late seventeenth century.
