Nurture through Nature - Parent and infant artist led workshop

The project aims to support overall wellbeing and bonding between parents and infants through collaboration and participation in a series of six creative art workshops with professional artists. Leading the work, artist Caoimhe O'Dwyer and a support artist will engage parents/caregivers and infants. Taking timeout to participate in art workshops will encourage bonding between parents and infants and encourage socialising and support between members of the community.  The main objective of the art workshops is to provide access to the arts and wellbeing in the community for all parents and infants of all backgrounds in Ardee and the surrounding rural areas in a comfortable and safe environment.

The focus is on the delivery of a sophisticated art experience for babies and their parents, who may both be feeling the stress and strains of early care giving scenarios and the added stress of a post Covid society.  Many families who had new babies during lockdown didn't have the same opportunities to engage with community groups like this. We also have parents and babies who recently arrived to Ireland under refugee status and who would benefit greatly from being part of an engaging art related community group. We will use different art mediums and introduce parents and infants to new techniques such as monoprinting, painting, drawing, stamping and creating keepsakes presented in an 'art journal'.
