Ó Ghlúin go Glúin

Ó Ghlúin go Glúin (from generation to generation) is a special inter-generational creative project which involves the transfer of traditional craft of quilting and patchwork with primary school children, in creating sensory fidget cushions for older residents of the local nursing home.

Fifth and sixth class pupils from Leitirmealláin Primary School will have an opportunity to learn a craft handed down from their grandparents generation in creating these special twiddle cushions in collaboration with the local quilting group.

Under the guidance of an artist from the Irish Patchwork Society, the cushions with soft materials and feature sensory attachments are designed to alleviate stress and restlessness and bring comfort to older people living with dementia and Alzheimers.
