One Million Stars Ireland (Carlow Project)

This Community Engagement workshop invites people of all ages and backgrounds across County Carlow to come together in a shared act of hope, healing, and solidarity.

Through accessible weekly Amber star weaving workshops, participants create handmade stars that symbolise light in times of darkness and a collective commitment to building safer communities by standing in solidarity against domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. Stars will be curated into final display that will be shared with the community. This initiative aims to strengthen wellbeing, social inclusion, and community participation through arts and culture.

Through creative engagement, dialogue, and shared artistic expression, the initiative supports community connection, resilience, and a sense of belonging which are key protective factors in building safer communities.

Rooted in trauma informed and inclusive practice, the workshops provide welcoming spaces where participants can connect, reflect, and express themselves creatively.

The final display will serve as a visible message of unity in Carlow, encouraging communities to stand together to promote safety, kindness, and respect.

This initiative demonstrates how creativity can be a powerful tool for community wellbeing and prevention supporting the shared vision of Carlow as a place where culture, creativity, and community safety work hand in hand to strengthen social connection.
