One Town One Voice Community Choir Collaboration
South Roscommon Family Resource Centre have a community choir, the choir was set up under the 'One Town One Voice' initiative. The aim of this is to bring people within the communities around Ireland together of any nationality, age, background etc. The focus is on community integration through singing, allowing people to get to know one another, have fun and all sing as one. The community choir here in the South Roscommon Family Resource Centre was set up in July 2023 and is continuously growing in numbers. The choir includes people who are Irish, Welsh, Ukrainian, German and also people of various ages. We sing songs in English, Ukrainian, German, Irish and any languages that our members speak.
They wish to meet up with another community choir under the 'OneTown One Voice' initiative for a day. The aim of this would be around integration, collaboration, learning and development. It would allow both choirs to get the chance to meet one another and learn from each other in regards to how each group runs, what works well for each group etc. It would also allow them to see how each group choses their music and goes about practicing, planning and other creative aspects. It will give the members of both choirs the chance to network also and learn creative skills from one another.
