Opening up a collection to creative practitioners at Kildare County Archives

To conserve and digitise local archival material which is in critical need of conservation and is currently inaccessible to researchers. The surviving Athy Poor Law Union Indoor Relief registers cover the period 1875 to 1920. The majority of these are in fragile condition and require conservation before they can be accessed by researchers. This type of material has a huge relevance to Irish society, in terms of understanding the social and economic conditions of the county and the poor, infirm and unmarried mothers who sought assistance under the Poor Law system.

These will be digitised as part of the project which would make them available to the widest possible audience.
