Our Wildlife Heritage

Students from Edmund Rice Autism Unit at CBS Roscommon will research our wildlife heritage, animals that are extinct and that roamed around Roscommon. Working with Artist Flin Keane, they will then sketch and draw 4 different animals and then look at sculpting the animal in copper/bronze with our artist. It is envisaged that the final project will be on display outside in the school. Students will use a broad range of artistic talents, sketches, watercolour, and drawings, all of which will go on display and then the final project will be unveiled and on permanent display in our school. As students have multiple needs it will be seen as not only creative art in our heritage but also art therapy for our students. Art therapy has always proven to provide great benefits in our school, for example, regulation, sensory needs, destressing and relieving anxiety.
