This mosaic project will bring together members of the local Portumna community, including the Daycare Centre for elderly residents in the community, the Active Retirement Group, young people from Youthreach Portumna, and newcomers to the town. Through a series of workshops the participants will make a group mosaic which will be displayed in the town. 

This project will bring both young and old people together, as well as more diverse groups to nurture collaboration and understanding through this shared creative experience. It will encourage the sharing of stories, traditions, and cultural backgrounds, especially among any newcomers in Portumna, helping them to integrate into the community.

The design will be developed in collaboration with all participants. Each participant would make a patterned mosaic on an identical 'tile' shape, for example a triangle. These would be pieces together to make a seamless design. Pattern is an accessible and successful design style for mosaic beginners and will represent Portumna's cultural mix.
