Renowned  Blasket Island storyteller Peig Sayers took to the streets of Killarney in the form of a giant 10ft puppet. Peig was surrounded by animated symbols of island life; iridescent puppets of mackerel & gannets, magical lanterns in the form of naomhógs (the island boats which were a lifeline to islanders).

As a result of Peig’s book she was often misunderstood. The event aimsed to bring her true essence to life, celebrating her for the world renowned storyteller, lively fun storyteller, mother & island woman she was.

Performers brought the vivacious energy of Peig Sayers to life through projections, movement, music, fire dance & draíocht.
