The PETE (Preparation for Education Training & Employment), Focus Ireland Garden, Education & Creative Arts Project is based upon the concept of Focus Ireland's customer appreciation policy. It is about connecting Focus Ireland's customers with local artists, gardeners, community based initiatives and enterprises to transform a derelict, unused space into a peaceful, stimulating and healing garden for Focus Ireland customers, staff and visitors to enjoy. It is a combination of work in the areas of; horticulture, garden design, sculpture, general education, creative arts and cross agency work to bring about positive change in the local environment. It is about giving back to the community. It involves course work, and reflection, covering aspects of literacy, numeracy,communication skills and personal effectiveness. It is about supporting each other to achieve desired outcomes and problem solving to overcome hurdles. It generates positive links and associations in the local community and provides opportunities for growth and personal development. It is about effecting change and is a celebration of creativity. This project strives to provide opportunities for learning and the sharing of knowledge and experiences.
