“Píobairí sa Phluais/Pipers in the Cave” is a concert of pipe music with Allan MacDonald and Maitiú Ó Casaide held in a chamber in Valentia Slate Quarry. There will be flute music from Leonora Ní Leidhin, songs and fiddle music from Róisín Ní Riain and bilingual poetry from Paddy Bushe.

A particular feature will be an emphasis on music and song particularly suited to this venue. A Scottish song and piping tune, Uamha an Óir/ The Cave of Gold and a piping tune said to have been composed in Ballachulish Slate Quarry will feature, as will such otherworldly music as “Port na bPúcaí”. The song Cuan Bhéil Inse/Valentia Harbour and other songs from the locality will be included. In short, the specific nature of the venue will be integral to the performance.
