The project will offer the opportunity for amateur and professional artists to come together to work outdoors under the guidance of three professional artists who have experience of teaching and working at Plein Air events. It is projected that the event will attract 30/45 participants each day. The project will help to showcase the magnificent site and facilities that is Belvedere House and Gardens. The project will establish a link with the growing Plein Air movement in Ireland as well as being of interest to the local artistic community. The project will undoubtable highlight what Westmeath and Mullingar in particular has to offer in terms of activity tourism. The participants will gain in terms of learning new skills. It will also be an attractive spectacle for the general visitors to Belvedere as they will be able to observe the artists at work and the finished artworks will be on display at the end of the event.
The expectation is that 30/45 artists will participate each day. It would be open to both amateur and professional artists. The event will run for two days over the weekend of July 17th/18th July. Two sites have been located Day 1 – The walled Garden- Day 2 – View of the Jealous wall and the lake from the patio in front of Belvedere house.
