Printing Worlds with Words

This day-long series of workshops encompasses printmaking, textiles and storytelling for family groups including parents, neuro diverse children (age 5 -12), teenagers and older community members.

Participants will learn how to create spontaneous, multi-layered printed artworks on textiles using wooden poster type and textured relief blocks. Participants will also be introduced to working with textiles, sewing and printing onto fabric, gaining an insight into repurposing old materials and an understanding of how they can be used and manipulated into new forms.

Alongside the printing and sewing activities our onsite story collector and writer will engage with community members to capture their stories and histories. Through this process, they will craft a narrative of the community as narrated by its members.

This narrative serves multiple purposes, including documenting unique histories, practices, and culture. The resulting text will be given back to the community after the workshop as a part of a reciprocal practice.
