Rainbow Library Project

About this event

In this course, you will learn how to write and illustrate books for children and YA from experienced writer Kel Menton and illustrator K Alizadeh in a 6-day residency held at Cork County Library.

This opportunity is open to people who identify as LGBTQI+, aged 16-26, who are passionate about writing and illustration.

Kel and K will guide participants through the process of bringing your own unique story to life, including how to pitch and present your manuscript and illustration portfolio. The course will be focussing on creating a community of creative peers with shared lived experience, interests and passions. While demystifying the publishing process, you will also learn how to evolve your story concepts, plots and other elements of your work, with your final pieces featuring in an online anthology.

In keeping with the ethos of Cork County Library, it will be a hands-on process, with practical creating, working in note/sketchbooks, and developing ideas in a relaxed literature setting.
