Wicklow County Council’s Culture Team commenced collaborative work in 2021 in Rathdrum under the EU initiative ‘Playful Paradigm.’ Led by an all culture team, pilot actions were carried out. The emphasis of the project is on rethinking towns through play, social inclusion, intergenerational and cultural mediation, healthy lifestyles and ‘placemaking’.

Building on 2021, Rathdrum Playfest Play Paradigm 2022 sees Wicklow County Council Arts Office, in collaboration with Wicklow Sports Partnership and Rathdrum Development Association, roll out a programme of activities and entertainment in Rathdrum.

Activities are planned to meet the specific needs of children, from young children, to early teens/young adults with abundant opportunities for participation in events including outdoor games, live music and arts/crafts workshops.

All events are free and parents/guardians are encouraged to participate along with their children in the activities.  

A research project will also be carried out to capture data on the town and community the results of which will be used to assist in our placemaking campaigne.
