Robert Barton – forgotten man of the Irish revolution?

History Ireland Hedge School podcast explores County Wicklow’s experience in 1921.  As one of the negotiators and signatories of the Treaty, Robert Barton is a significant figure in the context of our commemoration of the Truce and the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty in December 1921. Historians John Dorne, Joan Kavanagh and Chris Lawlor discuss the contribution of Wicklow’s Robert Barton to the republican cause, as well as his background as a member of the Anglo-Irish landed elite of Wicklow while Wicklow County Council archivist Catherine Wright, will be discussing the archive’s Barton Collection of family papers.
