Saint's Island
Saint’s Island is a character-driven drama set around the disappearing world of rural Irish pool halls and pubs in the midlands. It follows Danny, a teenage pool player, and his estranged father Winks as they gradually reconnect after his release from prison. Moe Dunford (Patrick's Day, Dark Lies the Island) is attached to play Winks, with Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty, Peaky Blinders) and Lara McDonnell (Belfast) also part of the cast. Wildcard is on board for Irish and UK theatrical distribution.
The project will begin shooting on the 9th of November and will complete an 18 day shoot finishing on the 2nd of December 2026. The film will be shot predominately in Co. Longford with a small number of scenes being shot in Co. Roscommon and Co. Cavan.
Saints Island is the second feature film by Patrick McGivney and Robert Higgins. Their debut feature Lakelands (2023) starring Eanna Hardwicke (Saipan), Danielle Galligan (House of Guinness) and Gary Lydon (Banshees of Inisherin), won Best Irish Film at the Galway Film Fleadh and Dublin Film Critics Circle and went on to receive six IFTA nominations. Their previous short film 'Drifting' starred Paul Mescal and was recently acquired by Disney.
