SALT: Research and Story-Gathering with Portraiture
This project begins with an invitation for 25 members of the local community in Kinvara, Co. Galway to share their sea-swimming and dipping stories. This first chapter of SALT embraces the power of sharing a personal story. Swimmers and dippers alike go into the sea every day to support and foster their mental wealth and well-being. Sharing our stories enables us to shine a light on and give voice to our lived experience, thereby developing empathy and understanding around what it is to be human. What takes you to the water? What do you leave behind? What do you take away? Working with artist and coach Vanessa Earl, participants will share and curate their stories. Photographer Markus Voetter will take individual portraits of each participant. These stories and portraits will form an installation and the foundation for a larger project in 2022.
Please contact Vanessa Earl via email if you would like to take part: firstname.lastname@example.org.
