This is a research project on borders in relation to transnational migration. The creative practitioner will be working with residents in St. Patrick's Accommodation in County Monaghan, which currently houses asylum seekers. The project seeks to deal with isolation and segregation of the people accommodated here and to explore what borders means by making a short collaborative film and consider historical and contemporary border narratives through literature and personal experiences.
The film will be short in various border locations using bicycles as both a metaphor and a filmic apparatus. This initial research project will be phase 1 with the vision of developing a larger more ambitious project later in 2020.
