Seán Corcoran Music Series

The Seán Corcoran Series is a new music programme of events celebrating the life and legacy of folk musician Seán Corcoran.

Born in 1946, Corcoran grew up in Clogherhead and Drogheda in County Louth. He started singing at Irish-language Feis Ceoil competitions and while still at school started to seek out local traditional singers. Seán had a vast career from being a member of the Rakish Paddies with Mick Moloney and Paul Brady to working with the music journal Ceol. In the late 1970s he was also the director of Féile na Bóinne, the Drogheda folk music festival.

Corcoran was a great mentor and supporter of local musicians and following his death left behind a substantial legacy of music collecting and recordings.

This new music series is the first in what will hopefully be an annual event and will feature artists and performers from across the country and beyond. There will be a mixture of music workshops with local children, literary events and evening concerts. Performers and contributors will include Dónal Lunny, Stephen Rea, Cathal Goan, Breda Keville and Colm Naughton.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
