To install a Sensory Pod in Oldcastle Library.

A voluntary Autism Support Group meets fortnightly in the upstairs meeting room of the local library. The group has been established since 2017 and caters for 12-15 children in a supported and caring environment.

The addition of the Sensory Pod to complement the existing 'Magic Table' now means that Oldcastle is a centre of excellence for community support to children and young people with sensory needs. Situated in North Meath, Oldcastle has a high level of social exclusion as the area is geographically isolated and services are concentrated in county towns. The library has a reach into counties Cavan and Westmeath and the new service has reversed trends with people now travelling to the north of the county to access these facilities.

Meath Arts Office and Solstice Arts Centre will deliver autism friendly arts and culture outreach projects to North Meath via the new resources at Oldcastle library. The autism support services meet in a 200 sq m events space can safely cater for a wide range of activities.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
