Silent Screen to Joyous Sounds

Hosted by Athenry Heritage Centre, this unique live event will introduce the audience to the golden age of the silent screen and create a bi-lingual music and storytelling performance which engages the audience with participation and interaction.

The Silver Screen production by Little John Nee and Fionn Robinson will recreate the music and sounds of the silent movie star Buster Keaton in his classic performance of Sherlock Jr. They will use the very latest in technology including gramophones, electrical musical instruments, a steam iron, modern valve amplification and fashionable synthetic sounds to create a voyage over 100 years back in time in a courageous attempt to collaborate with the flickering ghosts of the early silver screen.

Aindrias de Staic is an Irish actor, musician and one of the new generation of Irish storytellers. His performances are bi-lingual and promotes the Irish language through music and storytelling and engages audiences of all ages. His performance of Cill Stuifin, engages audiences of all ages however the primary focus for the Creative Ireland event is an interactive performance to students of Colaiste an Eachreidh and invite students from the Presentation and Clarin Collage secondary schools to participate in this unique performance.
