As part of its Culture and Creativity Strategy 2018-2022, Sligo County Council, in partnership with Creative Ireland, will host a Cultural Conference in Sligo in Spring 2021.

The conference will be an exploration of cultural, creative, heritage, architectural, economic, sustainable, inclusive and diverse initiatives to re-imagine our towns and cities. The conference will derive its themes from a creative engagement with the communities of Sligo and key stakeholders in a Day of Enquiry in 2020. Conversations will be framed with an understanding of the unique nature and context of Creative Placemaking and development in a small city, town and rural context. A combination of influential thought leaders and experienced international practitioners will contribute to the conference.

The conference will be a cultural event in its own right - a memorable experience combining valuable networking opportunities, inspiring presentations and experiential learning in a number of locations in Sligo.

A creative commission will be delivered as part of the conference, reflecting the themes and ideas of the conference.
