Sligo Way

Sligo Way directional wayfinding signage installed along an off-road section of the Sligo Way, a recreational trail, to assist and guide users. The series of individual hand sculpted decorative limestone inscribed directional way markers located at designated point along the route.

The Sligo Way is a nationally recognised 76km linear recreation trail which negotiates the Sligo country side, with spectacular off road sections, affording exceptional panoramic views over the surrounding Sligo landscape. Martha Quinn , sculptor, will interpret and represent images from this landscape and reflect elements in limestone directional markers located along the trail, to assist and guide users.

Martha Quinn ,sculptor, studied DLIADT from 1992-1995, graduated with distinction and over the past 20 years has gained a reputation and recognition for her public sculptural work. see link  https://marthaquinnsculptor.ie

A key element is Quinn's public sculptures has been to create artwork which is integrated with its environment, not only with its physical and geographical surroundings but with its social, historical and cultural contexts also; and so each work is completely site-specific.
