Songs of Lann Léire

This project will share two local songs with the wider community, beginning with selected partners (St. Brigid's Choir, Dunleer Men's Shed), involving schools (Primary and Secondary) and encouraging them to celebrate their community through artistic development.

In 2020, composer and local choir director, Daithí Kearney, composed a new song inspired by legends and folklore about St. Brigid, patron saint of the parish. The parish choir in St. Brigid's church will share this song virtually with other groups in the parish who will join with them to create a new music video, featuring images of the parish.

Another local song writer, Pat Roche, has also composed a song about local folklore and history, which was learned by the local Men's Shed group. This group will also share their song with others to create a video that will feature drawings of various places in the parish.

This project embraces the creative potential of every member of the community by inviting engagement across the entire community. In addition to inviting contributions in the form of song or music, we are inviting people to share photographs, drawings and paintings of the town of Dunleer in celebration of place through the arts.

The tutorials will be available on the parish YouTube channel.
