SongTales sa Spéir
SongTales sa Spéir is a new and exciting pilot initiative from Ceol Connected and a consortium of partners which aims to invigorate and build upon County Monaghan’s strong ecosystem of traditional arts for children.
During June, a team of musicians will travel across the county in a specially converted mobile stage! Via their fully kitted-out SongTales van, Áine McGeeney (fiddle/vocals), Thomas Johnston (whistle/vocals), Seán O’Meara (guitar/voices), Stephen Markham (keys/sound design), and Kevin Meehan (whistles) will bring music, songs and stories from Ceol Connected’s TREEHOUSE production to children across a range of school and preschool settings.
As a pilot initiative, funded through the Arts Council’s Capacity Building Support Scheme with additional support from the Creative Ireland Programme and Monaghan County Council, research and learning have been an integral part of the process.
Partners are Creative Monaghan, Music Generation Cavan/Monaghan, Íontas Theatre, Local Arts in Education Partnership, National Childcare Network and 12 schools/preschools from across the county.
