Space for Lismore – Photo Archive Project

A Space for Lismore is an innovative and collaborative project which will explore photographic archives from individuals, families and organisations in the Lismore community and beyond. Artist, film-maker and photographer Dervla Baker will work with the local community in Lismore, West Waterford to develop a slow-burning, site-specific, community focused series of relationships over a number of months.

Dervla and the participants will delve into local photographic collections and co-create an exhibition exploring histories and stories never seen before, revealing hidden archives in the community. Capitalising on our unique location, A Space for Lismore explores and reflects a sense of place, identity and culture, developing and strengthening the creative cultural community in Lismore.

The engagement project will result in an installation and archive exhibition in early 2021 at St Carthage Hall. A Space for Lismore will lead into a season of exhibitions and events celebrating photography and lens-based media at Lismore Castle Arts in 2021.
