61% of Dubliners wish they spoke Irish more often.
30% of people in Dublin can speak Irish.
Yet only 1% of people are speaking Irish everyday.
We have a bit of disconnect.
We are going to see can we use the power of the arts to tear down the boundaries which people have built around the Irish language and around each other. How?
So, using Census data we are going to identify a street in Finglas with a high density of people who can speak Irish but who don't do it too regularly for whatever reason.
We will then commission an artist to go door to door to cajole the local community to come together to co-create an arts project through the medium of Irish.
What will they come up with? An immersive drama in the local Centra where they invite the whole community? Or a concert in their back garden for the neighbours. We are looking forward to finding out!
