Working towards the 1500 year anniversary of the death of St Brigid, artist Shauna Swords will be working with students in the St Brigids Special School in Dundalk to create a mixed media art piece for display during the festival in 2023 and throughout the year. St Brigids special school facilitates children with mild learning difficulties, ages between 4 and 18 years old. Shauna will work predominantly with students in the older age range, in particular the Junior Cert year, to create a mixed media piece around the theme of St Brigid. 

This project will kick start our plans for the 1500 anniversary of St Brigid, with many events happening between 2023 and 2024 during the 1500 celebrations. 

Shauna is a textile and craft artist based in Carlingford who has worked extensively with the students in St Brigids directly and is very excited about the project and what they can do together. She will work with the students weekly through a series of workshops between Nov 2022 and Feb 2023.
