A 6 week STEAM project where Transition Year (TY) students explore the world of animation, learning about the art, technology and creative process involved and how they are interconnected.

The programme brings together Calmast, a leading centre in STEAM Engagement , Lighthouse Studios, an internationally renowned, multi award winning animation studio in Kilkenny and the Kilkenny library service to work with secondary schools in Kilkenny.

The programme will create a positive learning environment where participants develop their own confidence in creative and critical thinking, collaboration, embracing and sharing new ideas.

Through learning by-doing, they will learn about the art, history, technology and creative process behind animation. Participants will explore the whole creative process from ideation to production. Culture, heritage, history and folklore will be at the centre of the programme as a leitmotif through the different activities. Through the programme , the students will develop simple inspirational animations on Wellness and Wellbeing, and shared though social media.

Transition year students will be invited to attend by Calmast through their school.
