Stories for our Environment

Faced with an environmental crisis, both ecological and climatic, it is important we find ways to reconnect with our environments and challenge our current mindsets. The project aims to bring together local community youth groups in the Crumlin area such as Bru, Clay and St Agnes’ Community Centre for Music + The Arts to collaborate in a series of workshops that will aim to engage participants in new experiences with and perceptions of their environments, facilitated through mapping and storytelling. These engagements will aim to highlight the value of our ecosystems, challenge our current mindsets and improve on our ecological sensibility.

The process will involve an introductory presentation. Participants will then head out to explore their local environments and gather primary research in the form of photographs, notes and recordings, followed by a research period guided by questions and discussion. The participants will then work to create their own set of stories and maps based on the research they gather. They will then work on creating their own story about their environment. They can create their story which ever way they want - through text, poetry, images, drawing etc.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
