Street Art for Bridgefoot Street Park

A series of workshops with young people in SICCDA Young Project in Dublin 8 leading to a new street art commission by Shane Sutton at Bridgefoot Street Park.

Shane started painting murals in the early nineties but then swapped his brush for graphic design and motion graphics. Soon after he went to Thailand to co-direct and edit an independent documentary film that would go on to win 9 international film festival awards and earn him a nomination for best editing at the Irish Film and Television Awards. With a diverse range of skills Shane’s work changes from canvas to digital to street art. He is probably best known for his ‘Spacer’ street art astronauts. In 2019 he was selected from applications across Europe and was awarded an art residency with the European Space Agency UK Climate Office. Here he collaborated with climate scientist’s and produced paintings exhibited at the ESA Living Planet Symposium in Milan the same year. Also in 2019 on the 1st of March he became the first street artist to sign work in zero gravity. This once in a life time opportunity made possible after winning the ‘Graffiti Without Gravity Street Art Competition’ held by ESA in Holland and The Hague Street Art the previous year. Other work has included product design (Teddybots® toys), illustration, graphic design, motion graphics, film editing, photography and directing.
