Summer Soundwalks on Maharees
A series of four soundwalks on the Maharees tombolo:
Over four weekends in July and August members of the public are invited to join artists Zoë Uí Fhaoláin Green, Silke Michels and Emer Fallon to listen to local voices recount place-based stories while they follow a walking route connected to the sounds and voices they hear. The soundwalks centre the voices of Maharees people alongside those of climate and environmental experts, with ambient sound woven throughout, all recorded on Maharees over the past two years.
These walks spring from the learnings of Creative Climate Action project Neart na Machairí, a two year project led by Maharees Conservation Association in association with the Dingle Hub.
Dates: July 11th and 25th - August 8th and 22nd.
Start time: 16.00.
(Dates may be subject to change if the weather refuses to co-operate).
The soundwalks are free events but numbers are limited so booking is required.
Booking links will be provided on Maharees Conservation Association website and social media closer to the dates.
Soundwalk starting points will be updated on the booking pages closer to the walk dates.
