Super Power poetry is a unique community-based poetry project that links 25 local (Dublin 15) families (with children aged 4-12) and 5 experienced professional poets through the support of Poetry Ireland, an organisation that connects people and poetry.
Over the course of 5 weeks, 5 poets will engage with 25 different families, 1 poet with one family each week, to create a bespoke piece of poetry inspired by what they have heard, seen and felt when in the zoom company of the family.
The poets will engage in a series of fun zoom meetings, with the focus on the families, who they are and what their every day is, and how that is important. This engagement between poets and people in Dublin 15 offers an innovative celebration of the everyday lives of families across Dublin 15, sharing and celebrating the ordinary, and celebrating that that is rarely celebrated. They will then create a SUPER POWER POEM about and for each family.
The resulting poems will be shared by Draíocht across our social media platforms to share with the wider community. These poems will remain on as a reminder of the importance of the role that family play in our communities that will leave a lasting memory of how families pulled together and became closer to survive the pandemic.
Participants will be sought out/ invited to participate from a range of communities across Dublin 15- information will be available on www.draiocht.ie or by contacting Sarah directly by emailing sarah@draiocht
