Swim On, Maisie

'Swim On, Maisie' focuses on developing new public art for Tramore, Co. Waterford that is rooted in the stories of the community.

The Fresh Producer (Elizabeth Howard) will work with sound designer Joe Harney to generate a soundscape that interprets the female experience of swimming in Tramore bay. This is inspired by the story of Maisie Bishop who, in 1931, was the first known woman to swim from Brownstown Head to The Metalman. The soundscape will be accessible via a QR code that will be embedded into a plaque situated near The Guillamene.

The Fresh Producer will also hold focus groups with the community to understand a range of views on what a public art trail for Tramore might look like. This information will be used to inspire future projects.
