Granard native Noel Monahan is a distinguished poet and a regular contributor to literary festivals and summer schools. Apart from his own writing, he has a great interest in Irish literature and has delivered many talks on writers including William Carleton. In this instance, he spoke about Longford's writers - Goldsmith, Edgeworth, 'Leo' Casey and Padraic Colum - and discussed common themes.
