Tallaght’s Great Paper Rope (TGPR) will be a sculptural thread of paper rope starting in Tallaght Village and winding 1.5km to the Civic Theatre. TGPR will engage participants to translate memories, stories and aspirations to be woven together with personal artefacts to form Tallaght’s very own bespoke rope.
Inspired by the area’s history of paper-making, TGPR will bring together communities, school, arts organisations and artists in a yearlong exploration. TGPR will provide a dynamic backdrop for a series of installations, live performances and free activities.
Tallaght’s Great Paper Rope Project process runs over one year. In 2018, TCA ran a short Research & Development process during Tallafest in June to identify groups and individuals from our communities to draw together the many stories, histories and myths that make Tallaght so distinctive.
