The Tenters (Fairbrothers Fields) Housing Scheme Dublin 8, constructed in 1922 is celebrating its centenary year. As part of the communities’ commemorative year of celebrations DCC Conservation Section, with generous support from Creative Ireland propose two projects to highlight the special character and unique community spirt of area.

Outdoor Film Screening

In 2021, the Conservation Section with the support of Creative Ireland produced a short documentary on the history and architecture of the area. The Conservation Section are hugely grateful for the assistance and contribution made by the community towards the making of the documentary and it is only fitting that we premier the documentary to the community itself.  DCC’s Conservation Section, will arrange a special outdoor screening of the film in Oscar Square, Dublin 8 – the beating heart of the Tenters.  The screening will take place on the evening of Friday 26th August 2022 using a mobile LED screen.  Local residents will be invited to bring deck chairs and rugs to watch the screening from the leafy environs of the park setting. 

Conservation of Cló Gaelach (Old Irish Script) Street signs

In addition, the DCC Conservation Section will facilitate the specialist repair of a number of the original enamel Cló Gaelach (Old Irish Script) Dublin Street signs within the housing scheme.
