This project aims to reach people with intellectual disabilities that have met challenges in engaging with the creative arts. That’s Life have developed targeted strands to attract and support people with a variety of interests and skill sets.
- The Art of Music, a Gamelan project nurtures individuals with intellectual disabilities with weekly sessions involving co-composing, rehearsing original pieces, and learning traditional Japanese gamelan music, culminating in a public performance.
- The Art of Theatre, a beginners group workshop will run concurrently with the beginners music workshop, introducing and developing skills in visual theatre with masks.
- Visual Arts, one-on-one hand moulding tutorials, diorama workshops, culminate in a presentation of works, along with a stop motion animation course with a professional artist, participants will be offered the opportunity to engage with work that will go on public display.
The project will enhance the creative arts in Galway City by bringing together skilled professional artists and introducing multidisciplinary art forms in music, theatre and the visual arts to a wider cohort of participants. That’s Life art makers will be supported to create beautiful work that contributes to the cultural and artistic life of their community.
