The Beat Goes On

The Beat Goes On is a music and percussion project facilitated by musician/percussionist Kieran Gallagher with participants of AbleVision Ireland. The project will provide an opportunity for the participants of AbleVision to engage in a project that encourages active music making.

Artist and director of KadaKaBoomArts.com, Kieran has been working in the area of music/percussion professionally for over 20 years. Kieran will facilitate a programme of 24 workshops, delivered online, until it is safe to be back in the room with participants, in the art of rhythm making. Each participant will be provided with a music box to their home, containing their own percussion instrument, a box like percussion instrument called a Cajon.

The participants will experience and learn the many different structures that are found in a music/percussion composition. These will include intros, grooves, breaks, solos and finales. The project will further develop throughout the 24 weeks, with the aim of encouraging the participant to contribute more to the project’s musical direction. Under Kieran’s guidance, the group will create their own rhythms and grooves which will hopefully late Summer/Autumn 2021 be staged for presentation and performance. It is intended that this project will be a long term project, with the setting up of the Ablevision Percussion Band, enabling the group to participate in local festivals and events. This project is further supported by Droichead Arts Centre.
