THE Cartographer's Pen: A New Play by Jimmy Murphy

With the Civil war brewing in Dublin from fallout over the Treaty, a small, mixed border community finds itself in the spotlight when two civil servants, a former Cumann na mBan woman and a minor poet, arrive to establish what side of the Cavan/Fermanagh border an important spiritual and historical rock and holy well sit.

It is not clear exactly where they now lie and with each jurisdiction now claiming ownership of the site, the civil servants must establish how many inches the rock is more on one side than the other.

The decision leads to a disagreement among the once tight-knit community of small farmers. Deep religious and political divisions, that had always been there but buried over time, are now raised to the surface. With tensions in Dublin rising a young mixed couple, with plans to marry, find that their relationship may not be as solid as they thought when the call for volunteers to head to the Four Courts reaches the town.

The play will have an all-star cast including: John Olohan, Deirdre Donnolly, Sarah McKenna Dunne, Manus Halligan and Philip Judgwe.
