The Clearing is a new dance film from Clifden-based dance artist Magdalena Hylak which focuses on rediscovering the narrative inside contemporary dance work. Filmed on location at various venues in Clifden, Co Galway, this film reflects on the breakdown of a long-term relationship, while also telling a story about emergence into a new life and way of being.

The film will be divided into short chapters, arranged without chronological order to stress the fact, that life’s journey is not a progression, but rather it is a horizontal line (or maybe a circular one), where the beginning is also the end, and the end - the beginning.

With original music from Lionel Kasparian and filmed and edited by Cathy Coughlan, the Clearing will be available to view online across Galway Dance Project's social media channels from December 2022.
